    Additional Bookmaking Materials

  • Bamboo sticks - garden supply stores. Call first - often times it's dyed green
  • Various sticks work - avoid black walnut
  • Upholstery tacks for scroll ends - Joann's upholstery section
  • Silk cord - online and in store -  Joann's, Michaels
  • Ribbon in different widths - I find children use the thin ribbon, 1/4" the most, but it's great to a variety
  • Embellishments - buttons, feathers, beads, pony beads, sequins, pompoms, gems, etc. Micheals, JoAnns, Dick Blick, and various craft store.
  • Cancelled Stamps - have friends save stamps as well as saving your own. Rebecca reminded me that you can photocopy stamps if you are running short.
  • Maps - In addition to buying maps, I find free maps at hotels, rental car offices, available for Triple A - Automobile Association members, hotels, road side oasis info areas, airport info desks. When I have a lot of students from one area, I often color copy that portion of the map so each child has the choice of including their hometown in their map.
