‚ÄčExpertise, Experience, Education

Hello!

Welcome to my studio! I'm a teaching artist with over 20 years experience in classroom, museum, and outdoor education. I'm passionate about making art fun and accessible, and I love connecting art lessons to nature and science.

As a classroom teacher I saw an art extension in every lesson. After seven years in the classroom I transitioned to museum education and my speciality was developing programs that connected science to art. I believe everyone is creative and my greatest passion is making art accessible.

I create programs that use high quality artist's materials, are hands-on, object-based (we use real stuff...specimens, artifacts, live plants, and even animals!) My approach blends  a process focus with skill building, and plenty of opportunity to work on individual style.

I teach enrichment classes and workshops at schools, libraries, museums, and special events. Classes include observational drawing and programs that explore collage, textiles, bookmaking, painting, sculpture, including kinetic sculpture, and printmaking.

I can be reached through the contact page or by emailing BetsyMittenStudio@gmail.com.
